They made the most 2010s "tracing is inherently wrong" ass rules ever holy shit
AND THEY CLAIM IT WAS FROM 2017 LMAOOOO
A little while ago, artfight updated and reiterated some of their rules. People are mad about it now. Whole house mad. The only ones I kind of understand is not being able to make Nazis; there there are so many cases of people making Nazis for shock value. Same for school shooters, but not allowing fictional ones seems a little less like that and of an American Thing. You already can't make a furry version of Dylan Klebold, and fictional mass murderers are okay. You could argue that Some Militaries are a terrorist organization within itself, but the line is drawn at school shooters. I mean, a lot of them probably fall into Nazi beliefs. I guess there's that.
Don't give a shit about Countryhumans but since most designs are like, "personification of Japan with a schoolgirl outfit and cat ears" I don't think they're wrong but not allowing it. The only issue would be that it might disallow people from trying to make something that personifies their own culture.
I've seen people talking about how them allowing DNI lists would lead to people getting harrassed and homophobic DNIs, but those aren't even allowed. The problem isn't entirely that it's a DNI, the problem is that it's homophobic and harrassing people. I'm more concerned that Artfight mods haven't done anything about That Type Of Person having an account.
I also hate that people think you can cheat at art. Artfight at its core is an art trading game, so really the only rules should be "don't trace shit you found on pinterest for attacks." That's one of the only types of tracing I'm against, obviously don't trace off of another user.
As of May 25th they reiterated some(?) of the rules. Still have no idea how you'd be able to tell if someone is tracing off of a poseable 3d model or picture that they own without asking for a speed paint or going by 'vibes.' The photobashing and collaging rule being Like That and yet Rule 6a still has "credit is encouraged" for photography you found somewhere online and are using for a background for both character images and attacks is weird to me. Still no idea why they're keeping DNIs up.
